The story behind:

Wbeimar Urbano is 32 years old and from a very young age he started helping his parents with the farm work. He says that he has coffee in his blood, and that he can’t imagine doing anything more than managing the family farm he just inherited. Before this harvest he had no idea that his coffee deserved a better price due to its high quality, and he hopes to be able to work hard to continue the specialty project.

The El Naranjo farm consists of 1.5 hectares and 5000 trees and is located 2,080 meters above sea level, in Nariño region.

Nariño coffee is produced in 37 municipalities in the department of Nariño and 3 municipalities in the department of Cauca, all located in the Andes. The main coffee growing areas are around the volcano Galeras, which is the case of this farm.

In general, it can be said that the agroclimatic factors of Nariño coffee favor a higher sugar content, which are precursors to sweet and acidic sensations. The low content of caffeine and chlorogenic acids due to their variety makes it less bitter and astringent and softer on the palate.

The responses of the plant and the coffee bean to the low temperatures of Nariño, translate into a longer period in the development, filling and ripening of the fruit, in this case the coffee cherry; likewise, compounds such as sugars are favored at a higher level, which during roasting, thanks to Maillard reactions and caramelization, favor the sweetness of the drink.
