Producer/Farm Information:
Gedeb is home to thousands of smallholder families who grow some of the most amazing coffees in the world. Located south of Yirgacheffe, in the same area as Gedeo, the Gedeb area is made up of sixteen kebeles (villages).
The name "Worka" is well known in the world of specialty coffees and, in the Gedio language, means "gold", a name associated with the friendly inhabitants of the region since the days of King Haile Selassie. "Wuri" is another Gedio word meaning "high altitude", a name certainly earned by the reason of its agricultural areas surpassing more than 2,100 meters of altitude.
The classification and drying processes at Wuri station are precise and laborious, with the production of about 650 families. The botanical and tropical complexity of processed and washed coffees in Wuri puts them at a level above most Ethiopian coffees.
In 2017, the Ethiopian government relaxed export regulations, allowing private washing stations like Wuri to export their coffees directly and with traceability.
